1 Peter 2:11-12 (Common English Bible)
Dear friends, since you are immigrants and strangers in the world, I urge that you avoid worldly desires that wage war against your lives. 12Live honorably among the unbelievers. Today, they defame you, as if you were doing evil. But in the day when God visits to judge they will glorify him, because they have observed your honorable deeds.
“Master the Mind”
Lifepoints:
-
Taking the next step is “dependent” on one “determining” who they are. (I Peter 2:9-10)
-
Disciples defeat the enemy of a life given to Jesus with the decisions they make (“in their mind”). (I Peter 2:11-12)
-
Disciples accept and embrace their status in the world as “immigrant” and “stranger”. (I Peter 2:11)
-
Disciples “avoid” worldly desires rooted in individualism, and pursue “God’s intended destiny” centered in community. (I Peter 2:11-12)
-
Disciples “discipline” themselves to “live honorably” (I Peter 2:12)
-
Disciples turn being “defamed” into a “doorway” for others to become “disciples”. (I Peter 2:11-12)
Key Point:
Disciples “depend” on “Jesus”! (I Peter 2:12)
Action Steps:
- "Place" yourself before God's "word" "routinely".
